Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday y'all!

Here's what I'm thankful for today.

I'm not going to lie to you.
Lately I've been having a hard time.
As many of you remember from this post, I have a problem with depression and anxiety.
And since making a tough decision to go off my medicine for health reasons,
it has recently gotten worse.

Lately I've been feeling like I'm drowning.
And I look up,
and everyone is staring down at me watching me sink.
And life keeps on throwing buckets of water on top.
And it seems like I'll never get out.

It's hard for me to think about what I'm thankful for when my life gets in ruts like this.
I've had to remember lately
that it doesn't matter if I'm thankful for 50 awesome things going on in my life right now
or just thankful for the basic things that I'm blessed to have.
As long as I'm thankful.

So today,
I'm thankful for the gift of today.
It's a simple as that.

What are you thankful for today?

Link up and let us know :)

  1. Depression is a beast and the battle is never easy. My prayers are with you.

  2. I am so sorry girl! I pray that everything gets better! :)

  3. Today is a good thing to be thankful for. :)

I'm sorry to hear you're having such a rough time. I've been there before and I've felt how you're feeling, I wouldn't wish that feeling on anyone. I hope you're able to get up and get some air soon, you deserve happiness!

  4. I needed this post, I've been feeling very similar.
So, thank you. Today I'm thankful for this post, and you.

  5. I feel like you would really like this quote:

And sometimes we get in funks like this, and it's normal. You'll be back to feeling chipper soon! Know that I'm thinking of you, and very thankful for you and your amazing blog! Smile :)

  6. Depression is not a joke... I'll be praying for you girl ;)

I'm thankful that the warm weather is still here in NYC!!

  7. You go girl! I've also had struggles with depression and anxiety- I still get high anxiety in certain social situations. But I've been medication free for quite some time now. I read this great book, "Telling Yourself the Truth" by Marie Chapian and William Backus and that was the changing point for me. I still read and re-read "Come Away My Beloved" by Frances J. Roberts when I'm going through something rough. Both books can be found on Amazon if you're curious. Finally, I cling to the promise of Romans 8:28 and the hope that God always gives purpose to my pain. I hope and pray you'll be feeling like your joyful self again soon. Hang in there. You are loved, admired, and appreciated!!! ;)

  8. Sometimes the best thing you can do for yourself is take it day by day, or even hour by hour. I hope you get some relief soon.

  9. Just wanted to say I'm thinking about you! I hope you get to feeling better and back to yourself very soon!

  10. Being thankful for today is a great way to live your life! I am praying for you and I hope your battle with depression gets better. Do you read dooce's blog? She wrote a great post the other day about depression being worse in September. It's and is super honest!

  11. Sorry i didn't get to comment and link up on Thursday. I was off and not in the office and I didn't get a chance to do it from home. I was busy preparing for hubby's birthday party. I am going to send you a separate email shortly. Hope you are feeling better today. :(

Thanks for stopping by y'all! I love your comments, and I read each and EVERY one!
