Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday y'all!

First of all, I wanted to let everyone know that there is an awesome new blogger in town! My little sister Michelle has finally given in and joined the blog world! You should all hurry over and become a follower! That way one day when she has 1000 followers because she's that awesome, you can say "I was one of her first followers!" :) You can find her blog HERE.

Now onto Thankful Thursday!

Here's what I'm thankful for on this beautiful day.

This week, it's all about the simple things.

I'm thankful for electricity.

That lets my air conditioner run on a hot day.
That keeps my refrigerator running so that my food stays fresh.
That lets the pump to my well run so that I have water.
That lets me turn on the lights when it's dark so I can see what I'm doing.

The lack of a Thankful Thursday post last week was largely due to my power going out last Wednesday night around 9:00 p.m. It stayed off all night and didn't come back on until around 7:30 the next morning! Can you say hot in SC with no air conditioner on a summer June night?! The worst part was, I had 2 guests here Wednesday night with 5 more on their way Thursday morning. Fortunately, the power came back on in plenty of time for me to cook lunch before the rest of my guests got here. Thankful!

I'm thankful for good health this week! I was really sick last week in addition to all the above so I'm glad to be feeling much better.

I'm thankful that my fingers didn't break when I slammed them in the garage door. When the power went out, we had to disconnect the garage door opener so we could open and shut it manually. So when I tried to shut it manually I crushed three of my fingers. Fortunately they were just bruised and not broken. Thankful!

I'm thankful for my husband who let me whine while I was sick and had hurt fingers. He took great care of me and even made me dinner in bed!

What are you thankful for this week?

What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y'all!

Here's what I'm loving today! If you want to participate, link up HERE.

I'm loving that my husband and I are headed to Charleston this weekend for the Fourth of July!

I'm loving that I found these two shirts for both my sweet, adopted furbabies on clearance at PetSmart!

I'm loving that I went shopping over the weekend for the fist time in a while. I found these cute things from Forever 21!

 I'm loving that these finds were paid for via gift card :)

I'm loving that my husband went willingly with  me to the mall and waited patiently for me to scan the racks numerous times until I found what I wanted.

I'm loving that while trying on clothes, I found that I have gone down a pants size. Thank you Weight Watchers!

I'm loving that my one year anniversary is only a month away! I can't believe it!

And as always, I'm loving my sweet husband!

Burlap & Doily Luminaries

Hey y'all!

So I'm pretty much obsessed with all things Mason jar, and I came across this idea for DIY luminaries using Mason jars! Similar to my Book Jar luminaries but a whole different style.

If you missed my how-to on Book Jar luminaries, you can see it HERE.

Supplies:

Glass Jars
Adhesive Spray (like Elmer's craft bond)
Doilies (fabric NOT paper)
Burlap
Twine, buttons, and/or ribbon

Directions:

Make sure jars are clean and dry. Spray doily with adhesive spray and press in place onto Mason jar.

Spray the rim with adhesive spray, then wrap with burlap.

You can also wrap the rim with a pretty ribbon then tie a piece of twine around the rim as well. Tie them both in a bow.

Another option is to use the canning jar lid, then wrap that with twine or loose threads from your burlap. Thread two of the ends through a button and tie in a knot.

This craft idea and all pictures were re-blogged from HERE.

"Add Friend"

It's as easy as clicking the "add friend" button on Facebook.

But one woman took it to the next level and added 152 of her friends' profile pictures on Facebook to her arm!

A video was posted to YouTube of the woman getting this outrageous tattoo.

Now it has come to the attention of the media that the alleged tattoo was actually a hoax; a temporary tattoo.

For me, that's not the point. This story really got me thinking about some things.

Do I actually have 152 people that are so dear to me that I would tattoo them on my arm?

I definitely don't.

How would I feel if one of my friends had my profile picture tattooed to their arm?

I think I would be a little weirded out!

What do you think?

Miscellany Monday

Happy Monday y'all!

{MIA}

It feels so good to be back! I haven't written a blog post since last Monday. I would love to tell you that it's all because I had company, and I was busy having a fabulous time spending time with them. That's only partly true. The other half is that while I had company I was very, very sick! I was so sick that by the end of the day, all I wanted to do was for my NyQuil to kick in and pass out. It definitely wasn't ideal to be sick while having seven guests. Nevertheless, I had a great week spending time with family and friends. And after spending Thursday and Friday in bed, I finally recovered :) You know it was bad if I didn't even feel like blogging!

{the verdict is in}

Well, my little kitten finally has a name! Names had been narrowed down to Sushi and D'Artagnan, and after spending lots of time with his little personality we decided that he was definitely a D'Artagnan. Besides that, Chris really didn't like the name Sushi.

So where did I get the name D'Artagnan from?

Why The Ugly Truth of course!

In this movie Katherine Heigl plays Abby Richter who has a cat named D'Artagnan which I thought was a.w.e.s.o.m.e.

{winner, winner!}

I seriously won the greatest giveaway over the weekend! Ashley from The Shine Project was giving away a $50 shop credit to the online boutique Shop Kempt, and I won! I couldn't believe it :)

I hope everyone has a marvelous Monday!

{father's day}

I had a great weekend home with my dad for Father's Day! I think my dad had a really good day :)

And the furbabes did too!

{baby shower}

My friend from my Army Reserve unit is having a baby, and her baby shower was Saturday! I had a great time. She got a lot of really nice things for the baby!

{hair cut}

My little man got a huge haircut at the groomers! Our old groomers quit so it had been a long time since he'd been when I finally found a new groomer. He had one too many mats, so it ALL had to go! He looked so different I didn't even recognize him at first!

He went from this...

...to this!

{science nerd}

I am such a total geek! My friend showed me this website where you can find anatomically correct stuffed microbes, bacteria, and viruses! Each stuffed microbe comes with information about the real microbe it represents. They even have STD's! As a Biology major, I must have these :)

{bad blogger}

I've been such a bad blogger lately! Last week I was super busy getting my house ready to have company, and this week I have company! I have felt bad because so many of you have taken the time to leave me such sweet comments, and I have had a hard time returning the favor and responding to them all. I will be doing better, I promise! Thanks for sticking with me y'all!

I hope everyone has a marvelous Monday!

To My Dad

Dad,

I appreciate everything you've done for me more than I could ever tell you. You worked hard every day to make sure I always had what I needed. You did without most of the time so that I could have. You taught me everything I know today about what it means to work hard and to do my best. I know that I survived and succeeded in the Army because of the example that you've always shown me, and maybe a little because I'm a lot like you :) Thank you so much for raising me in a Christian home with values to live by. I love you very much!

Thankful Thursday

Happy Thursday y'all!

Here's what I'm thankful for today!

I'm thankful that I had a safe drive down to my parent's house yesterday evening!

I'm thankful that my Army Reserve unit is letting me do my battle assembly hours for July early today and tomorrow. This way I get to spend my one year anniversary with my husband. Yep, in a little over a month I will be eating year old wedding cake :)

I'm thankful that I don't have to be at my unit until 0900. It sure beats 0530 any day!

I'm thankful that I'm getting to meet one of my oldest friends for dinner tonight for our usual Mexican dinner catch up. I've know her since I was 5 years old, and we're still close!

I'm thankful that I haven't caught the stomach bug yet that everyone has had. My mom, my sister, and my husband have all had it. yuck.

I'm thankful for Tylenol PM. I might not ever get to sleep otherwise!

And, I'm thankful for my sweet husband!
