Kim K suing Old Navy

So I was listening to the radio yesterday when I heard that Kim K is suing Old Navy for allegedly placing a Kim K look-alike in several commercials beginning in February 2011.

My first thought:
How ridiculous.

But is it? Apparently there is some reason to believe that Old Navy intentionally put a Kim K look alike in their commercial hoping to boost sales by associating Kim K with their line of apparel.

Apparently Old Navy tweeted to Kim K's page:
"@CBSNEWS reports that Old Navy's super CUTE star looks like @kimkardashian. #LOL. What do you think?"

So now I don't know.

Did Old Navy intentionally try to capitalize by using a Kim K look-alike?

But whether she's entitled to the $15-$20 million in damages she's suing for is another story.

Do you think the model looks like Kim K?
Do you think Old Navy did this on purpose?
What do you think?

You can read the lawsuit documents HERE.

  1. I think she looks a lot like her. But suing Old Navy for that much money over it is ridiculous. However, to them it may not be that much money. To me... it's 15-20 MILLION! haha. Sheesh, if it were me, I'd take half a million or a million and run! :)

  2. Yea it looks like her, but who cares? I mean what "damages" is Kim K suing for?

    She's an idiot, haha

  3. i think kim kardashian is so ridiculous, it is like she doesn't need anymore money, i think she is an idiot i agree with you amber!

  4. Well I am going to be honest. I can't stand kim k. She drives me crazy so I THINK SHE IS RIDICULOUS!
    I agree with above!

  5. When this commercial first came out, I REALLY thought it was Kim. But my husband said it wasn't, so we googled it. That's when I realized how many people made the same mistake I did.

From a personal standpoint, I think it's pretty ridiculous what she's asking for. But from a business standpoint, it makes sense. Kim has her own clothing line, she's not going to want consumers thinking she's promoting ON's clothing if she sells her own. But I think the more sensible request would be just to have ON stop airing the commercial.

  6. I definitely think that she's a look a like. And I definitely think that intentionally placed her. Working in the advertising world now, I see some of these subtleties (or some that aren't so subtle) to really attract attention to the brand.

  7. Sure, she looks like her. But a law suit is unfounded. We all have "twins" out there somewhere. I think she would have something if the chick was pretending to be her or if the general public was led to believe by the company that it was her.

  8. I'm SURE they did that on purpose, but honestly this happens in a lot of media all the time. Did she ever try to sue SNL for portraying here on there? Just ridic.

Thanks for stopping by y'all! I love your comments, and I read each and EVERY one!
