What I'm Loving Wednesday

Happy Wednesday y'all!

Here's what I'm loving today!

I'm loving that I'm officially done with classes for this semester!
Next week this time, I'll be done with exams and have a little break before summer classes begin.

I'm loving all my hard work in Biology paid off this semester!
I got a 149.63/150 on my 10 page paper summarizing my research, and I got to present my project :)

I'm loving these coffee/tea cozies I made!
I'll have to post a tutorial soon!

I'm loving that I get to go to Charleston to visit my family soon!

I'm loving that I've talked Chris into starting P90X with me!
I needed a workout buddy :)

What are you loving today?

I hope everyone has a wonderful Wednesday!

Dare You To Move

With everything that has been going on in mine and Chris' life lately,
I feel lost a lot of the time.

I've needed to find someway to encourage myself,
and this song has been giving me just what I need.

A blog post is in the works for more specific updates,
but today I wanted to share this song for anyone else who may be needing it
as much as I do.

"Between how it is and how it should be...
Dare you to move...
Dare you to lift yourself off of the floor...
Like today never happened..."

Penne Pasta with Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce

Happy Monday y'all!

I'm going to share with you an amazing recipe I found on Pinterest!
Best part?
It was approved by my very picky husband :)

Ingredients:

2 cups (8 oz.) dry penne pasta
8 sun dried tomatoes, chopped (about 1/3 cup)
1 can (12 fl. oz.) evaporated milk
2 cups (8 oz. pkg.) shredded, Italian style four cheese blend
(I used Kraft Italian Five Cheese Blend with a touch of Philadelphia cream cheese!)
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper

Directions:

1. Prepare pasta according to package directions, adding sun dried tomatoes to boiling pasta water for last two minutes of cooking time; drain.

2. Meanwhile, combine evaporated milk, cheese, basil, garlic powder, and pepper in medium saucepan.  Cook over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, until cheese is melted.  Remove from heat.

3. Add pasta and sun dried tomatoes to cheese sauce; stir until combined.

Super easy, and anything with 2 cups of cheese in it has to be good right?!

Hope everyone has a great start to their week!

This is the last week of classes before finals so it has been crazy!

Last Chance!

Happy Friday y'all!

Today is the last day to make a donation to my fundraiser.

As many of you know, back in November I had to put my sweet Youri to sleep.
You can read about it HERE.

I adopted Youri from Lowcountry Animal Rescue. He had been neglected and abused all his life. He was 7 years old when I adopted him. He wasn't a dog that had a good chance of being adopted. Because of his medical and personality issues that he had from the abuse along with his age, he probably would have been euthanized if he had been sent to a kill shelter. For the time that Youri was in my life, he was worth every obstacle I had to overcome with his disabilities. I needed him just as much as he needed me.

I am forever grateful for rescue organizations such as this one and many others who give dogs like Youri a chance to find a loving home.

In memory of YouriI will be walking in the Bark to the Park on April 14 at Finlay Park in Columbia to help the homeless animals in our communities.

Bark to the Park is the largest event fundraiser for Pawmetto Lifeline and, in addition to the funds raised, the event brings greater awareness to companion animal issues such as homelessness, abuse and neglect.

My goal is to raise $200 to help homeless animals in South Carolina get the care that they need and find loving homes.
I would greatly appreciate any money you could donate,
even if it's just a dollar.

And, if you make a donation today of $10, I will send you this necklace in the mail as a gift from me thanking you for your support.
After making the donation, just send me an email with your address at southerncharmblog@yahoo.com .
(If you have already donated and want a necklace email me also!)

Donating is easy!
Visit my personal walker page HERE and click the support walker button underneath my picture of Youri and me.

Thank you for your support!

Easter Weekend Recap

Happy Monday y'all!

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend!
I know I did :)

{Thursday}

On Thursday night Chris and I dyed Easter eggs!
We had so much fun.
I love having the eggs around this time of year because I love to make egg salad.
I will admit that I normally soak a few that are cracked in the blue or green dye for a long time so that I can have egg salad that has colors in it ;)
I don't know why I like doing that, but I do!

Chris always has to take one egg and make sure it goes through all 12 of the dye colors.
He calls it the speckled egg!!

{Friday}

On Friday Chris and I drove down to Charleston.

My home church puts on a play every year at Easter called the Passion Play.
This year was the 25th annual Passion Play and the last year they will be doing the play.
I really wanted to see it for the last year so Friday night Chris, my sister, and I went to see it.

(That soldier to the right there is my dad!)

We had a really good time!
The performance is always really good.

{Saturday}

On Saturday my sister and I woke up and dyed more Easter eggs.

Then my dad sent my mom, my sister, and I out shopping for Easter dresses!
Since Chris lost his job I didn't really expect to get a dress this year so I was really excited!
I ended up getting the very first dress I tried on at Dress Barn.
Have you ever shopped there?
They have a huge selection for a really great price.
My dress was a third of the price I would have paid for it somewhere else.

This is the dress I ended up getting:

We ate at Moe's for lunch, and Saturday night we had pizza for dinner and watched The Ten Commandments on television.
The Ten Commandments is an Easter tradition for my family!

{Sunday}

On Sunday we went to Easter service, and then came home to a big lunch prepared by my mom.
My neighbors who I consider my grandparents came, and my aunt and uncle were also there.
It was a great day with family!

We took lots of pictures with everyone dressed up.
Allie was in her Easter dress and Pinto Bean, D'Artagnan, and Thomas were all in their bow ties :)

It just so happened that D'Artagnan's bow tie matched Chris, and Pinto Bean's bow tie matched me!

The cupcakes and cake my mom made!

I hope everyone had a great Easter weekend as well and that everyone's week is off to a great start!
