Miscellany Monday

Happy Monday ya'll!

For once I can actually say it and mean it! This week starts my last full week of classes before exams so I am ready to knock this week out and get ready for summer break :)

And what's more is that it's time for Miscellany Monday with Carissa at lowercase letters!



{first time for everything}

This is my and my husband's first Easter together so we have had so much fun making our own traditions and doing holiday stuff together. Yesterday we dyed Easter eggs together for the first time. We had so much fun! Dying Easter eggs has always been one of my favorite holiday things to do, and my husband hadn't done it since he was a little kid.

My mom and I made this super cute Easter craft a few weeks ago, and I thought that I would share it! This craft idea was taken from Woman's Day Magazine April, 17, 2011 edition.

materials

Green flower foam

Newspaper

Serrated kitchen knife

4 1/2" x 5" green mini -flowerpot

11' dowel

Green paint

Paintbrush

Hot glue gun and glue sticks

6" plastic embroidery hoop

3 packages of 5-count yellow chick Peeps

Green Easter grass

1. Place the foam on a newspaper-covered surface and cut out a 3" x 4" x 3" rectangular piece using the kitchen knife. Place the piece witdthwise into the flowerpot so it fits snugly and the foam isn't visible over the top edge.

2. On the same surface, paint the dowel green. Let dry. Apply a generous amount of hot glue to the top of the dowel and secure it to the screw at the opening of the embroidery hoop. Let dry.

3. Remove Peeps from the packaging but do not separate. Apply a thick line of hot glue to 1/3 of the front side of the embroidery ring. Gently press on group of five Peeps onto the glue with beaks facing the center of the circle, slightly bending them to cover the ring. Let dry. Repeat with the other two groups.

4. Stick the bottom part of the dowel into the center of the foam so that the stem stands upright. Cover the top of the pot with green Easter grass. If desired, lightly mist the Peeps flower with a craft sealer to preserve it.

I am in love with Icebreakers Ice Cubes gum...specifically spearmint :) It is the best gum I've ever had, and it's long lasting too! I will never look back.

{creamy vs. crunchy}

I never realized until a few years ago that there is a HUGE difference between creamy and crunchy peanut butter. My mom had always bought the creamy because I guess that's the only kind my sister and I would eat when we were kids. When I went to college my roommate had the crunchy peanut butter, and I fell in love! In other words, I'm excited about my lunch today :)
